Shoe Tower

In November of 2009, WORKshop announced the winners in Stage Two of the Shoe Tower student design competition. The three-member jury included Andrew Jones, furniture designer and adjunct professor in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design; Larry Wayne Richards, professor in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, and Artistic Director, WORKshop, Inc. (Chair of the Jury); and Robin Speke, furniture designer and manufacturer with Speke/Klein, Durham, Ontario.

The Jury memberes were pleased with the Stage Two responses from the five finalists that submitted and recognized the tremendous amount of work that the various individuals put into their submissions. The winning and runner-up shoe towers, along with the other three finalists, were displayed as part of WORKshop's opening exhibition at 80 Bloor Street West during the winter of 2010.

Omri Menashe, 4th Year (B.A.) Architectural Studies, University of Toronto ($500)
Second Prize: Peter Sherratt, 3rd Year (M.Arch), University of Toronto ($300)


Honourable Mentions: Nelson Cheng, 2nd Year (M.Arch), University of Toronto, Nicholas Gosselin & Tyler Murray, 3rd Year (B.A.) Architectural Studies, University of Toronto, Xian Chi, 4th Year (B.A.) Architectural Studies, University of Toronto
