Larry Wayne Richards (Artistic Director)

Larry Wayne Richards is Professor Emeritus and former Dean (1997-2004) in the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. During the past 30 years he has completed numerous projects in Canada as curator, writer, editor, critic, and professional advisor for design competitions. Various conceptual projects by Richards are in the permanent collection of the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal.

Richards was born in Indiana in 1944. He holds a post-professional master's degree, completed at Yale University; and previously he received a bachelor's degree in Architecture from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. During 1967-72, Richards worked with Walter Gropius and The Architect's Collaborative (TAC) as a designer for major corporate and institutional projects, including the American Institute of Architects headquarters building in Washington, D.C.

 

Yiding Franco Cheng (Manager & Design Assistant)

Franco graduated from the University of Toronto in 2010 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and economics. He joined WORKshop as Manager & Design Assistant in September of 2011. Born and raised in Chengdu, China, he is committed to furthering WORKshop's mission of experimental design with a balanced Eastern and Western approach.

Prior to joining WORKshop, Franco worked as a graphic & web designer and has gained extensive experience in user-centered design with concentration on visual clarity.

 

Cleo Buster (Special projects coordinator)

Cleo Buster is a freelance designer and consultant working in the Toronto and Montreal areas. She joined WORKshop in spring 2010 and is currently Special Projects Coordinator.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Cleo graduated from the Honors College at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.A. in Art History. She received her Master of Architecture degree from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. Cleo has traveled extensively and has worked in the U.S., U.K., Russia and more recently Canada.

Cleo has participated in multiple design competitions. She was a semi-finalist in the ONE PRIZE Competition, New York, 2010 and a finalist in the Brunswick-College Parkette Design Competition, Toronto, 2011. Cleo is involved in community design projects, such as the Mississauga Urban Design Advisory Panel and has served as a volunteer at the Design Exchange. Cleo is an avid photographer, maintains an Ontario boating license, and designs websites. Her work can be seen at: www.cleobuster.com
